Scholarships

The David Payne Appalachian Writers Workshop Endowment and the Appalachian Writers Workshop Scholarship Fund at Hindman Settlement School make scholarships possible for aspiring writers.

Scholarship Applications
Scholarships are limited to college students and graduate students who aspire to be writers and have financial need.

If you meet these criteria, call or write to Mike Mullins at 606.785.5475 to request assistance. Your request should be submitted, along with your manuscript, by the manuscript deadline. It helps to have recommendations from a teacher or mentor.

Scholarship recipients may be asked to write a letter thanking donors for their financial assistance.
